The Legislative Office monitors the progress of proposed legislation in the Ohio General Assembly and advises the Director and executive staff on the implications of changes in the law. One of the duties of the office is to prepare and support the Director as she testifies in front of the General Assembly for the Department’s biennial budget provisions; the most recent budget testimony is linked below. Currently, our office is monitoring the below legislation that is currently pending in the 134th General Assembly:
- House Bill 101 regards funding jail facilities;
- House Bill 166 regards modification of current criminal sentencing laws;
- House Bill 343 regards changes to the rights of crime victims;
- Senate Bill 288 regards criminal justice policies including, but not limited to, transitional control, record sealing and expungement, judicial release, and Good Samaritan law expansion.
