15 February Bee Program Donations & Community Partner February 15, 2018 By ODRC Trumbull Correctional Camp TCC, Portage County Water and Soil Conservation, Seeds, Honey Extractor, Pollination 0 In an effort to help the bee program flourish, we partnered up with the Portage County Water and Soil Conservation. They donated seeds as well as a honey extractor. The seeds are for various flowers to support pollination and beneficial to bee colonies. The seeds will be planted this spring with hopes of providing additional nourishment to promote a stable bee population in the local area. A honey extractor is a mechanized device which is used for the extraction of honey from bee combs. The advantage of this is that the wax and combs remain intact and can be returned to the bees for use. Most manual honey extractors can hold from two to about four frames.
