29 December LorCI's Mentor Retreat December 29, 2017 By ODRC Institutions, Lorain Correctional Institution (LorCI) LorCI, Offender Mentor Retreat, Director Mohr, Successful Coaching and Mentoring, Workshop 0 The Lorain Correctional Institution hosted its first annual offender mentor retreat for both staff and offenders mentors. Director Gary Mohr was the keynote speaker and discussed the importance of offenders mentors in the reception centers. Offender mentors at LorCI receive a college level course on Successful Coaching and Mentoring in addition to ongoing guidance and oversight from staff. The retreat provided an opportunity to further hone their skills during workshops and allowed them to participate in the development of a strategic plan for the coming year. All who participated in the event walked away with a better understanding of how much of an impact they as mentors have on newly arriving inmates who are beginning their sentence in a correctional institution.
