7 November Judge Nancy Russo Returns to RiCI November 7, 2017 By ODRC Institutions, Richland Correctional Institution (RiCI) RiCI, Judge Nancy Russo, Cuyahoga County Reentry Court, Education, Housing, Employment 0 The Honorable Judge Nancy Russo recently visited Richland Correctional Institution to discuss facets of the Cuyahoga County Re-entry court. Over a hundred offenders attended her presentation. Judge Russo (Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Court ) presides over the Cuyahoga County Re-entry court, which was established to address the needs of offenders (ex. programming, education, employment, housing, etc) transitioning back to the community after incarceration. The Re-entry court was established in 2007. Over a ten year span, there has been an 85% success rate (non-recidivate) with those who have participated in the Re-entry court program. The vast majority of past/current participants are now working, attending school, or have gone into business for themselves. Judge Russo explained to the offenders that honesty and accountability are major tenants of the program. She also stressed the importance of the information provided to the courts in regards to positive and negative behavior during incarceration. At the conclusion of the presentation, Judge Russo met with several of the offenders in attendance.
