United States Navy's 241st Birthday

United States Navy's 241st Birthday

The United States Navy’s 241st birthday was recognized.  To celebrate, the Operation Support Center and Columbus APA’s employee veterans committee held a brief birthday celebration for interested staff to participate in.  The committee will hold a birthday celebration for each service going forward.  While in the military, most veterans fondly remember their service’s birthdays as increasing their pride, morale and camaraderie amongst the unit.  There was a reading of the 241st Birthday Speech (Naval History and Heritage Command), an informal cake-cutting presenting the guest of honor cake to Ed Banks, and our navy veterans receiving the next pieces.  The next planned event is Veterans Week, where there will be different events each day, beginning with veterans representatives on-site, culminating in the Marine Corps 241st Birthday Ball.
