Presentation at GRC/GCI For Black History Month By Carlos Christian

Carlos Christian, founder of the Starts Within Organization, presented a Black History month presentation at both Grafton’s Reintegration Center and Grafton’s main compound. Carlos has been offering motivational speeches at GCI for the following few years. Residents and staff continue to request his presentations.

Carlos Christian presented a motivational speech to the offenders of Lorain Correctional Institution during Black History Month. Mr. Christian was here to help celebrate Black History Month and encourage our offenders to make changes in their lives, to make a difference. Mr. Christian presented on his unique viewpoints on personal responsibility, family and life choices.

Author Kicks Off Black History Month at RiCI

RiCI formerly kicked off Black History Month activities with a presentation by Carlos Christian. Mr. Christian is the founder of the Starts Within Organization. The organization was formed in 2011 as a non-profit organization that combats recidivism. He also is the author of two books, “Prison Without Bars: It Starts Within” and “The Walking Logo: Taking Back My Life!”

For his second time, Carlos Christian, motivational speaker, visited the Chillicothe Correctional Institution in honor of Black History Month. Mr. Christian is the President and founder of “The Starts Within Organization”. Each time Mr. Christian visits the institution he attracts a bigger crowd to hear him speak on how we can work to reduce the recidivism rate through education and training.

Mr. Carlos Christian was invited to Lorain Correctional as a motivational speaker who shared words of encouragement, inspiration and caution. Mr. Christian was speaking from firsthand experience, as a formerly incarcerated person, about the thinking errors that lead to extreme behaviors and yield negative results. His powerful voice kept the audience quiet as he told of his experiences and how he changed his thinking to ultimately change his life. His Starts Within Organization has touched the lives of hundreds of incarcerated men, women and youthful offenders.

Mansfield Correctional Institution offered several activities in celebration of Black History Month. Former offender and author Carlos Christian presented words of encouragement, motivation and hope to the audience. He explained that you must have a “Victorious Mindset” to succeed. He related how his prior incarceration changed him and how you must “embrace your truth and live it”

In a separate program, “AW” in Duo presented an entertaining mix of soulful jazz with their vocal and saxophone arrangements.

Grafton Invites Motivational Speaker for Black History Month

Carlos Christian is a motivational speaker from Columbus, Ohio. Originally from Oberlin, Carlos enjoyed a recent visit to Grafton Correctional (GCI) to discuss "Starts with Organization. " This is the second year that Mr. Christian has visited GCI for Black History Month.

Mr Christian spoke at both GCI and the Grafton Reintegration Center.
