New employee orientation is designed to introduce new
correctional employees to the field of corrections and
employment as a corrections professional with the Ohio
Department of Rehabilitation and Correction.
New employee orientation provides basic, standard, and centralized
quality training to all new permanent employees for the
Department prior to them independently commencing duty at
the location for which they have been employed.
This training is held at the Corrections Training Academy
(CTA) at 11781 State Route 762, Orient, Ohio. Lodging
is provided at CTA for all Department of Rehabilitation and
Correction staff at no charge.

- Folder to keep handouts
Those staff requiring overnight accommodations at CTA during the training should
also bring
- Completed CTA Registration forms
- Bath towels
- Extra blanket
- Pillow
- Shower shoes
- Toiletry items
- Personal care items
- Alarm clock
Dress Code Policy (DRC 31-SEM-06)
- Classroom training - all staff are required to dress
business casual; jeans are permitted only on designated
days to be determined by managing officer. Tennis
shoes and flip flops are not permitted.
- Physical skills training - staff may wear jeans or
sweat type pants during unarmed self-defense, firearms,
transportation, OC, and CPR training. Jeans or
pants with belt loops are required for firearms
training. Tennis shoes are permitted during
physical skills training.
Meals
- Breakfast, lunch, and dinner are provided to all
Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction New
Employee Orientation (NEO) students.
Lodging
- Lodging is provided at the Corrections Training
Academy for all Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and
Correction staff at no charge.
- The process of reserving a room is as follows:
- All new staff are entitled to overnight
accommodations at CTA
- Registration for rooms is on a first come, first
serve basis. We do not accept reservations.
- Room key distribution hours: if you
require overnight accommodations, the following time
frames have been established for you to obtain your
room keys. If you plan on arriving the evening prior
to the start of your training day:
- Sunday: 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. or Monday: 8 p.m to
9:30 p.m.
- Monday - Thursday: keys will be distributed
prior to and after class at 7:20 a.m. - 7:50
a.m. or 4:30 p.m. - 5:00 p.m.
- Registration occurs in the Administrative and
Training Building in room 26.
