CORRECTIONS DIRECTOR ANNOUNCES NEW WARDEN AT OHIO STATE PENITENTIARY

(Columbus)óOhio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction (DRC) Director Reginald A. Wilkinson today announced the appointment of Todd Ishee as warden of the Ohio State Penitentiary (OSP) in Youngstown. Ishee will replace Warden David Johnson, who will become Security Administrator for the southwest region of prisons.

"Dave Johnson did an excellent job of getting a most difficult prison off the ground and running, and we are now looking to Todd Ishee to pick-up where he left off," said Wilkinson. "We feel his experience in working in high security prisons will serve him well in his new position."

Ishee, who holds a Bachelors Degree from Malone College, started his career as a corrections officer at the Lorain Correctional Institution in 1990 and has since been promoted to Lieutenant, Captain, and Major. In 1999 he was named to his current position of Deputy Warden of Operations at the Mansfield Correctional Institution.

David Johnson started his career with DRC in 1980 as a Social Worker at the Chillicothe Correctional Institution and served in four deputy warden positions before being named administrator of DRCís elite Special Tactics and Response team (STAR). Johnson has been warden at OSP since itís opening in 1997.

These changes will be effective July 24, 2000. For further information please contact Joe Andrews DRC spokesman at 614-752-1150.
