Warden Appointment Announced

(Columbus)-Reginald A. Wilkinson, Director of the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction (DRC) announced the appointment of Deborah Timmerman-Cooper as Warden for the Ohio Reformatory for Women. Cooper will be replacing Shirley Rogers, who will become Security Administrator for the Department’s Office of Prisons.

Cooper, 43, is currently Deputy Warden of Operations at Franklin Pre-Release Center in Columbus, a minimum-security facility housing female offenders. Ms. Cooper began her corrections career in 1980 as a social worker for the Chillicothe Correctional Institution. Since 1980, she has been promoted to the positions of inspector of institutional services, unit manager, Deputy Warden of Administration and Deputy Warden of Special Services. Ms. Cooper received her Bachelor of Arts Degree, in Sociology from Ohio Northern University in 1979.

In her capacity as Security Administrator, Shirley Rogers will be responsible for security inspections; internal management audits and review of security policies, practices and procedures. Ms. Rogers will serve as Security Administrator for the northeast quadrant of the state, which includes 9 of Ohio’s prisons.

Shirley Rogers has served as warden at Northeast Pre-Release Center, Allen Correctional Institution, Marion Correctional Institution and most recently at the Ohio Reformatory for Women. Rogers brings thirty plus years of corrections expertise to her new assignment. Her experience as a managing officer at four different prisons coupled with her background in security makes her a good selection for this position.
