Ohio Prison Director Partners with “Who Killed Our Kids” Organization to Help Solve Cold Murder Cases

(Columbus) Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction Director Terry J. Collins will be hosting a press conference on Friday, August 22, 2008 in Cincinnati. Mayor Mark Mallory, representatives for the organization “Who Killed Our Kids” and a representative from the Hamilton County Prosecutors office will be joined by Director Collins and members of his staff.  This press conference is being held to unveil a rendering of a poster of unsolved murder cases from the Cincinnati area.

Mrs. Hope Dudley, mother of one of the murder victims contacted DRC Director Collins seeking permission to place bookmarks she had created in prisons throughout the state with the intent of possibly jarring some offender’s memory as to any possible information relating to her sons murder. After seeing the book marks Director Collins decided to feature six of the unsolved homicides on posters to be displayed in prisons across the state. There will be a toll free tip line where offenders can call in anonymously and give information regarding these cold cases.

“It is our hope that these posters will generate conversations among our offenders which can and will eventually lead to solving some of these cold cases”, said DRC Director Collins. “We partnered with Mayor Mallory because he and the City of Cincinnati have been aggressive in thwarting violent crime and removing guns from city streets. These posters will be updated every quarter by adding a new unsolved murder case”, stated Collins.

The press conference will be held on Friday, August 22, 2008 in Committee Room B on the 3rd floor of Cincinnati City Hall. The address is 801 Plum Street. We are asking media to arrive no later than 1:45 p.m.
