DRC CREATES NEW PARTNERSHIP

(Columbus) --- Reginald A. Wilkinson, Director of the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction (DRC) joined local officials and DRC staff today in a groundbreaking ceremony for a boot camp located in Glouster. The event took place at the site in southeast Ohio.

"Glouster will be a 125 bed facility that will provide male substance abusers the opportunity to make a real change in their lives through intensive treatment, work, and growth. Community representatives in Athens County will join us in working towards these goals," said Director Wilkinson.

When operational, the $3.6 million camp will employ 50 staff and have an annual operating budget of $2.4 million.

DRC received a Correctional Boot Camp Initiative grant (#95-SC-LX-0036) from the Office of Justice Programs (OJP), U.S. Department of Justice in order to build this 125-bed, minimum-security facility, which will be managed by Warden Saunders of the Hocking Correctional Facility. The camp is scheduled for completion in July 2001.
