(Columbus) -- The Ohio Parole Board met today to vote on the clemency of Inmate Wilford Berry. Their vote was unanimous in not recommending clemency. The recommendation will be forwarded to the Governor's Office next week.
Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction officials also announced today that Wilford Berry chose lethal injection as the method of execution. In accordance with the Ohio Revised Code, Berry received a form, which enabled him to select either electrocution or lethal injection. Berry had until February 24, 1998, to make his choice, he decided to do it immediately.
Berry is scheduled to be executed on March 3, 1998, for the December 1989, murder of his former employer Charles Mitroff, Jr. Berry also announced that he did not want to conduct any media interviews.
