(Columbus)----- The Victim Information and Notification Everyday (VINE) automated notification system malfunctioned today. The message was sent that their offender was to be released. More than likely these calls were not correct. Approximately 3,000 calls were made.
The Department of Rehabilitation and Correction (DRC) has corrected the computer problem and apologizes for the erroneous notification. The DRC’s Office of Victim Services (OVS) staff will be available tonight until 8:00 p.m. and again tomorrow from 10:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. to verify the correct release information for those who received calls today.
A corrected message will also appear on DRC’s website: www.drc.state.oh.us
