DEPARTMENT OF CORRECTION ANNOUNCES REASSIGNMENTS
(Columbus) -- Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction (DRC) Director Reginald A. Wilkinson announced today that three DRC veterans, George Alexander, Dianne Walker, and Rukhsana Akram will change positions of leadership within the department.
Warden George Alexander will transfer from the Pickaway Correctional Institution in Orient, to the position of special assistant to the deputy director of the Bureau of Mental Health Services. Alexander will assume the responsibilities of compliance monitor for the provision of Mental Health Services in prisons. In his 24 years of service to the department, Alexander has held positions as warden, deputy warden, director of social services, and chaplain. Alexander holds a Bachelor's degree in History and Political Science and a Master's degree of Divinity.
Warden Dianne Walker will transfer from the Franklin Pre-Release Center in Columbus, to the Pickaway Correctional Institution. In her 11 years with the department, Walker has held positions as warden, deputy warden, unit manager, case manager, and social worker. Walker holds a Bachelor's degree in Sociology.
Rukhsana Akram, Deputy Warden of the Ross Correctional Institution in Chillicothe, will fill the position of warden at the Franklin Pre-Release Center. Akram began her career as a teacher for the department in 1980. Akram holds Master degrees in Political Science and Criminal Justice.
"George, Dianne, and Rukhsana have demonstrated quality leadership in our department," states Director Wilkinson. "The skills and experience they bring to their new positions will serve to further strengthen the department."
The transfers will go into effect February 10, 1997.
