This training was provided by Unit Staff and the Deputy Warden to equip mentors with the tools on stages of change; communication; and facilitating groups. The second day involved going to the Reintegration Center to work with the Therapeutic Community staff on group intervention tools, such as: Encounters and role playing. This allowed for a teambuilding between the mentors to encourage the mission of the housing unit as a transitional unit for those offenders. The mentoring program serves as a tool to assist offenders that have adjustment difficulties or assist in preparing them to transition to the reintegration center.
