28 September Correctional Reception Center's Operation Backpack September 28, 2017 By ODRC Correctional Reception Center CRC, Operation Backpack, Homelessness, Employee Activity Committee, 7 Step Foundation 0 One of the most devastating consequences of homelessness is the impact it has on a child’s education. Thousands of children live with their families who struggle with homelessness and most will return to school without the school supplies they need, looking and feeling different from their classmates. For eleven years, Operation Backpack has been providing Ohio’s most vulnerable children with new backpacks brimming with school supplies in time for the first day of school. The CRC Employee Activity Committee raised $150 dollars through jeans money collection to donate to the Operation Backpack. The CRC offender 7 Step Foundation donated $500 to the Operation Backpack. By donating this money, the CRC EAC committee and the 7 Steps Offender foundation plays a part in proving a backpack for the kids will start school full of confidence, looking and feeling like their classmates and not like a child in need.
