12 September Building Bridges Between Partners and Prisons September 12, 2017 By ODRC Reentry Office of Reentry and Enterprise, Building Bridges, Butler-Warren Reentry Coalition, United Methodist Church, Regional Director Rob Jeffreys 0 The Office of Reentry and Enterprise Development, in conjunction with the Butler-Warren Reentry Coalition, held its first ‘Building Bridges Between Partners and Prisons’ meeting. The approximately 60 attendees included current community partners and program providers, potential new partners, prison and APA staff. The event presented a valuable opportunity for everyone to share updates on programs and services. There was also a presentation from Reba Collins of the United Methodist Church West Ohio conference on All in Community, the UMC’s systemic approach to recidivism reduction in Ohio. The group also heard comments and remarks from Southwest Regional Director Rob Jeffreys. Mr. Jeffreys charged the prisons with fostering community engagement and the importance of entry procedures that accommodate community partners. He further challenged the community partners to capture the metrics of their in-reach efforts and to help clients remain connected post release. The highlights of the day were the recommendations resulting from small group discussion about in-reach, volunteering, resource fairs and restored citizen summits.
