30 August OSP Correction Officer is Moved to Donate to the Youngstown Rescue Mission August 30, 2017 By ODRC Institutions, Ohio State Penitentiary (OSP) OSP, Officer Boyer, Youngstown Rescue Mission, Christ Our Savior Parish Council 4471 0 On several occasions, Officer Boyer works as the Community Service officer escorting OSP’s level 1 inmates to the Youngstown Rescue Mission. The inmates help cook and serve lunch for the less fortunate along with performing other vital tasks to help with the daily functions of the Mission. On one occasion, Officer Boyer witnessed one of the residents of the Mission frantically looking for a ride for a drug test. The Mission had assisted this person in finding a job but a drug test was required by the company as a condition of employment. The Youngstown Rescue Mission provides bus passes to help with this type of situation, but unfortunately the Mission was out of bus passes to help this person secure employment. Officer Boyer took it upon himself to go to his council at Christ Our Savior Parish Council 4471, and asked for assistance with purchasing the passes to assist the Mission. His council donated $100.00 dollars for the sole purpose of buying the bus passes for the residents at the Youngstown Rescue Mission. Officer Boyer presented the check for $100.00 to the Mission.
