In keeping with the mission statement of the Department and the institution to reduce recidivism this group provides each returning citizen with a packet intended to be a hand up in providing some needed items for their initial needs upon release. The packets are geared towards the individual being released and can include a *$100.00 voucher for needed items at any Salvation Army Thrift Store, *two coupons for a complete value meal at any Rally’s Hamburger restaurant, a bus pass for Cleveland or Akron areas, a one night stay at a local motel in Oberlin Ohio, a $30 voucher for groceries at a local IGA in Oberlin Ohio, and a note of encouragement. (Items with an asterisk included in all packets). All packets are provided in sealed clear plastic envelopes and are intended to be opened by the returning individual upon release. These vouchers are funded by the Group, the Salvation Army, Rally’s Hamburgers and other community partners. In addition this group has played an integral role in our relationship with Planet Aid in providing clothing for the returning citizen.
