24 August Offenders at CCI Learn About Preventive Medicine August 24, 2017 By ODRC Chillicothe Correctional Institution (CCI), Institutions CCI, Preventive Medicine, Health Education, Diabetes, Weight Management, OSC 0 Ensuring the health and wellness of our offender population is always a top priority at the Chillicothe Correctional Institution. Preventative medicine focuses on preventing an illness from occurring rather than treating it after it has invaded a person’s body. With this in mind, five outside vendors, as well as staff from the Operation Support Center and our medical, mental health, and recovery service programs were available to offer health education to almost seven hundred men. They all received bags containing a toothbrush, mouthwash, toothpaste, pencil, paper tablet, and an educational pamphlet for attending the fair. They were given information regarding many health issues including, cancer, diabetes, weight management, dental health, mental health, heart disease and nutrition just to name a few! Thanks to all the staff and outside vendors who worked so hard in making the day a success.
