28 July NW Region Leadership Meeting July 28, 2017 By ODRC Northwest Region NW Region, Reduce Violence, Benchmark 0 NW Region wardens and deputies got together to discuss issues of mutual concern and benchmark with each other on strategies to reduce violence in their institutions. The morning session was devoted to presentations by representatives from Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO), Labor Relations, Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM), Religious Services and Office of Reentry and Enterprise Development. The afternoon session focused on violence reduction strategies, with each institution providing an overview on how they are tracking incidents of violence at their facility and deploying additional resources to those areas identified as “hot spots” for inmate assaults and contraband. Each prison left with some new ideas to implement at their facility to increase safety and security. The meeting was held in Pugh Cabin on the grounds of Malabar Farm State Park, one of the stops on the “Shawshank Trail” which takes visitors to many of the sites of the iconic movie.
