7 April Stepping Up Graduation Ceremony April 7, 2017 By ODRC Institutions, Ohio State Penitentiary (OSP) Stepping Up Program, OSP, Graduation, Chaplain Rader 0 Ten inmates graduated from the inaugural Stepping Up class at OSP. The Stepping Up program is designed to teach males how to mature into manhood and eventually be instilled with values that will make them leaders in their homes, churches and communities. After completing the course they will have a better understanding of what is needed to be a good spouse and father. They are taught to love others sacrificially. Jesse Prather, a volunteer, taught the course. He drove an hour and a half from the far side of Akron to teach it. “He was amazing,” said Chaplain Rader. “He believes it is such a good program that he once told me, ‘I'm afraid someone is going to leave OSP without having had the opportunity to take this class.’” DRC has been informed that the Stepping Up class is being made available to all of Ohio's prisons through the assistance of a generous donor.
