31 March Contemporary Jazz Dance Workshop at DCI March 31, 2017 By ODRC Dayton Correctional Institution (DCI), Institutions DCI, Jazz Dance Workshop, Dayton Contemporary Dance Company 0 The women offenders of DCI participated in a four day Jazz Dance workshop where they enjoyed an unique instructional learning experience from professional dancers of the national recognized Dayton Contemporary Dance Company, located in Dayton, Ohio. The Jazz workshop was an opportunity for offenders whom were apart of the DCI Recreation Dance Program to expand their knowledge and exposure to contemporary dancing. This workshop and previous dance performances by The Dayton Contemporary Dance Company is part of a large dance program where one of the objective is to provide structured educational dance opportunities for women offenders. The women offenders had the opportunity to perform for their peers. The DCI Recreation department plans to maintain this relationship providing appropriate means of activity for women offenders.
