19 September Trumbull Correctional Institution (TCI) Welcomes RTI International to Interview Inmates September 19, 2016 By ODRC Institutions, Trumbull Correctional Institution TCI, RTI International, Inmate Interviews 0 Trumbull Correctional Institution welcomed RTI International representatives, at their Trumbull Camp, to begin three days of inmate interviews. The Bureau of Justice Statistics selected RTI International to be their collection agent. RTI International is an independent non-profit research institute. The Survey of Prison Inmates (SPI) is a study of inmates in federal and state prisons. The SPI is conducted every few years to generate a national statistics of inmate characteristics, how the population has changed over the years and the impact of policy changes. Ninety-two inmates were randomly selected to participate in face-to-face interviews. Each discussion took about one hour. The survey involved questions about current offenses and risk factors for recidivism, such as, family ties, pre-prison employment and social integration. The interviews were successfully completed on the third day. The supervisor expressed her gratitude for the cooperation and smooth operations. RTI International is expected to visit four other prisons in Ohio this year.
