16 February Justice Involved Women Kick Off February 16, 2017 By ODRC Institutions, Operation Support Center (OSC) Justice Involved Women, ORW, DCI, NERC, FMC, APA, Parole Board 0 The newly formed Justice Involved Women (JIW) workgroup kicked off a department-wide initiative aimed at improving outcomes for women currently incarcerated and on community supervision in Ohio. Participants included staff from Reentry, Research, the Adult Parole Authority, the Parole Board, and each facility with female offenders (Ohio Reformatory for Women (ORW), Dayton Correctional Institution (DCI) , Northeast Reintegration Center (NeRC) , and Franklin Medical Center (FMC). This event was held at ORW and featured topics on gender informed practices in several areas including: training, trauma informed care, intake, assessment and classification, programming, and community supervision. The group determined it’s immediate focus will be to expand training opportunities for staff to increase awareness on best practices in working with Justice Involved Women.
