OSP Supports the Salvation Army Angel Tree Program

The Ohio State Penitentiary partnered with the Salvation Army to help support local children of the Mahoning Valley through the Angel Tree Program.  The Ohio State Penitentiary received 100 names and Major Valerie Kahn of the Salvation Army accepted the donations for the children.  She was overwhelmed by the generosity and support of all OSP staff.  "Need knows no season", she said.  “During this season the generosity of so many people helps families that are in need”.  Not only did staff at OSP fulfill the 100 names, but many more additional gifts were brought in.

In addition, the local OCSEA Chapter 5041 of the Ohio State Penitentiary presented a check to Major Valerie Kahn in the amount of $500.00 for this worthy cause.  Local chapter president, Officer George Tunison stated that “We saw this as an opportunity to give back to the community and make Christmas a little bit brighter for more local children”.
