9 September CRC 7-Step Foundation Donates to Habitat for Humanity September 9, 2016 By ODRC Correctional Reception Center, Institutions CRC, 7-Step Foundation, Habitat, Scioto Valley 0 The Correctional Reception Center’s (CRC) 7-Step Foundation presented The Scioto Valley Habitat for Humanity board members, Robin Knab and Charlie Heiss, with a donation of $1,000.00. The money will help to maintain services of affordable housing in the Scioto Valley Region. Habitat for Humanity of Ohio is a non-profit charitable, faith-based organization whose purpose is to assist in building homes for families who would otherwise not be able. The Habitat program, locally and around the globe addresses problems head on by promoting home ownership as long term solution to break the poverty cycle by building simple, quality constructed homes in partnership with families and community volunteers. The men of CRC 7 Step Foundation were impressed by the Habitats “hand up, not a hand out” approach to home ownership. Recipient families are required to provide “sweat equity” with hours spent building their home. Families are also assisted by being offered interest free mortgages. Traditionally rural regions of Habitat for Humanity are in the greatest need of donations over the urban center regions like Central Ohio which allows donations to have a great impact. CRC 7 Step Foundation would like to issue a challenge to other organized groups of ODR&C to raise funds for their respective regions of Habitat for Humanity.
