17 November ORW Marathon for Domestic Violence Month November 17, 2016 By ODRC Institutions, Ohio Reformatory for Women (ORW) ORW, Domestic Violence Awareness Month, Turning Point, Runners 0 ORW held their 4th annual Domestic Violence Awareness Month 10K and 1/2 marathon race to raise funds for Turning Point, in Marion, Ohio. There were a total of 77 runners, 34 10K runners and 43 1/2 marathon runners. In addition to the runners, the groups at ORW who contributed to the race were Pawsibilities, Give Group and Time Group. General population contributed monetary and non-perishable items. Aramark contributed 500 cups for the water station and four food prizes to the first four winners of the 1/2 marathon. Coffee Crafters donated three gift certificates for the winners of the 10K. Chaplain Rudolph kindly contributed the sound system and microphone during a very busy time for Kairos. The Race committee was made up of staff and inmates working together to organize the event: Mr. Coleson, Ms. Collins, Ms. Kilburn, Ms. Maldonado, Mr. Schmidt, and Sgt. Reinhardt. The inmates were Ms. Dixon, Ms. Faulkner, Ms. Yirga and Ms. Stredney. No race would be possible without volunteers from Tapestry, JG and Arn – 1 housing units who volunteered to help track runners, set up and take down, water and food station, signs and cheering on the runners.
